I’m Desireé L. Wells, a Minneapolis-based designer and creative strategist. Or, better known as a creativepreneur. Collaborating with inspiring people, crafting meaningful designs and cultivating creativity truly is my passion.
At a young age, I found myself intrigued by the visual elements around me and I began to enrich my creativity through fashion, drawing and painting. My mom often tells the story of how I, at age 5, declared that I was going to become a designer. At that time, I did not, nor did my family, know exactly what that meant or would look like. But, my dreams were never stifled and my creative spirit flourished.
Fashion shows became regular productions in our household, as did photo shoots and posh family events. Magazine tearsheets plastered my bedroom wall. Artist tools, paper and glitter littered the playroom. Eventually, I was introduced to design programs on computers, which further propelled my ability to create!
After completing high school and achieving an associates degree in advanced computer technology and web development, I moved to New York City to study business, design, and fine arts at Parsons The New School For Design. Yes, home of Project Runway!
With a Bachelor of Arts degree in design management, I was educated on the entrepreneurial and strategic aspects of design, and in design aspects of business. Studying with a concentration in advertising and graphic design, I was able to hone my skills in the development and implementation of brand identities, product packaging, art direction and publication design.
Although I focus on creating thoughtful brand identities, print communications and producing events, I love to take on all kinds of design projects.
I love to stay creative—and busy. Outside of DASH Collective, I also work as an in-house creative and marketing leader, and I recently joined the ranks of freelance photography. Be sure to checkout DASHcam!
With a passion for adventure, travel, cultures, and fashion, in my free time I enjoy exploring new and exciting destinations, thrill-seeking activities, networking, and making a difference in my community.
I am Desireé. Proud mother of one - Mr. Dash, and the proud wife of a business owner and minister of the Gospel. I am grateful to the Most High for the time and talent to do something I truly love. I have created more designs and collaborated on more projects than I can honestly count. I have a soft spot (and it's not just my midsection ;) for delectable desserts. I can never get enough of a good, belly-busting laugh or spending quality time. Oh, and I admittedly have a slight obsession with shoes!
